Welcome to Mrs. Dillow's 4th Grade!
Hello 4th grade,
We had a wonderful week last week with learning, playing and praying! Spring break is coming up this week, the holiest week of the year. We have another amazing week planned to help remind us of the great gift God and Jesus did for us, his people. Please pay attention to Dr. Blessing's weekly emails with all the updates and news. MAP testing went well last week and I only have a couple who need to finish a test this week, so please be prepared if you are one who did not finish the testing. Information on our field trip to the Science Center went home last week. Please, pay your child's fee on the Webstore and return the permission slip this week. The last day to do this is on April 28. The chaperones have been picked and email went out if your name was chosen. I am sorry if you weren't chosen this year for the field trips, but we still have other events to be a part of here at St. John for this year. Chaperones, please send in your money in as soon as possible as well. We greatly appreciate all the parents help throughout the year. In religion, we will continue to learn about the Holy Week. Last week we had a Mrs. Krehely come in to teach us a mini lesson on kindness. It was great hearing all the ways we want to be kind, and we are kind. In social studies, we have finished talking about the effects of the Civil War (13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments) and this week we will talk about some of the inventions that went on after the war during the second Industrial Revolution. Remember to study your notes in social studies at least twice a week. You can always find the link with notes under the socials studies button on my Weebly. We have started the next chapter on measurement. Fourth grade needs to know their Multiplication facts when doing conversions, so please remind them to practice. In ELA, we finished Unit 5, so this week I will like to do a mini lesson on poetry. We will learn a few vocab about poetry and write a poem ourselves. Two important reminders are: points are taken off for no name, late assignments and not using the correct spelling of a word when it is on the paper. If a child is absent, it is also their responsibility to find out what they missed, so they can make it up and get caught up. This also includes when they miss a class for band. It is their responsibility to find out what they missed. Thank you! We are still wearing the winter uniforms until April 1, so please refer to the handbook for the correct winter and spring uniform regulations, including jewelry, tardiness rules and leaving early, and other new rules that you will need to know to make this great year.
