The first graders are responsible for identifying and reading these words by the end of the year. The children will be assessed at the end of each unit. We encourage you to make reinforcing them fun with practice and support etc. A few ideas include: memory games, flashcards, sticky notes, watercolors, sand, pudding in a bag, shaving cream, or even, Alpha Bit cereal are creative ways to work on learning or reviewing HF words! HAVE FUN! If you practice for 5 minutes each evening, it will be a huge benefit! :)
Parents, I am sending home the entire list of words that need to be identified and recognized by the end of the year. The children do not need to be able to spell the words.
We are currently in Unit 3, week 4, if you would like to break the words down by units. The children will be assessed next week and 1x each month moving forward. They will be assessed using the list form.
